Aircraft Donation Appraisals

When an aircraft is donated to a qualified charitable organization with a claimed value exceeding $5,000, the IRS requires an independent appraisal by a qualified appraiser. OakTree Aviation Services prepares USPAP-compliant donation appraisals that meet IRS requirements for Form 8283 and support your charitable contribution deduction.

What the IRS Requires

For noncash charitable contributions over $5,000, the IRS requires a qualified, independent appraisal conducted no earlier than 60 days before the donation and no later than the due date of the tax return on which the deduction is claimed. The appraiser must meet IRS qualification standards, and the appraisal must conform to USPAP. OakTree meets both requirements.

What Our Donation Appraisal Includes

Every donation appraisal includes an on-site inspection of the aircraft, logbook, and maintenance record review, equipment inventory, condition assessment, and a market-based value conclusion supported by comparable sales data. The report is prepared to withstand IRS review and audit scrutiny.
