USPAP-Compliant Aircraft Appraisals

All OakTree Aviation Services appraisals are developed in compliance with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), the recognized standard for ethical and competent appraisal practice. USPAP promotes and maintains public trust by establishing requirements for how appraisals are developed, documented, and communicated.

What USPAP Requires

The Appraisal Standards Board (ASB) of the Appraisal Foundation develops, publishes, and interprets USPAP on behalf of appraisers and users of appraisal services. Standards 7 and 8 establish strict requirements for the appraiser to develop and communicate analyses, opinions, and conclusions in a meaningful and non-misleading manner.

USPAP-compliant appraisals must be conducted by a qualified appraiser with specialized knowledge and proficiency, including completion of intensive USPAP coursework. USPAP addresses ethical and performance obligations — it does not train individuals in aircraft appraisals or award aircraft appraisal certifications.

USPAP and PAAO — How They Work Together

While USPAP establishes the ethical and performance framework, the Professional Aircraft Appraisal Organization (PAAO) provides training, testing, and certification specific to aircraft appraisals. OakTree applies both — USPAP compliance for the appraisal process and PAAO analytical methodology for aircraft-specific valuation. This combination ensures that every report meets the highest professional standards and is defensible for reliance by lenders, legal counsel, fiduciaries, and the IRS.
